#106 : Secrets of the Ultimate Capsule

Lately I’ve been musing about the difference between the super chic, and us mere mortals. Now, I’m not talking fashion slaves, I’m talking true icons here. Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel and Jackie Kennedy spring to mind, and I think I’ve put my finger on it. Simplicity.
I think the problem might be that I’m bombarded with so many options when I open my closet, that I’m bound to make mistakes. So, I’ve vowed, I’ll be paring down. My goal is simple – to achieve the ultimate capsule wardrobe, that can take me from day to night, office to the movies, with the simple addition of accessories, and by making slight adjustments to the look. In my quest, I’ve stumbled onto what I think may be the beginnings of a recipe for this ultimate capsule wardrobe: firstly, a perfect, crisp white shirt, as well as a beautiful, high quality sweater, in a soft finish.
Perhaps angora? Next, the ultimate pair of dark denim jeans. Follow that up with a black suit, with on the knee pencil skirt and tailored jacket. Another staple would have to be a fabulous tan trench, and last, but not least, the ubiquitous LBD.
While I realize that I will probably never achieve the pinnacle of chic that I aspire to, I think, armed with my secret weapon wardrobe, and basing all my looks on it, I may just get close.
CozyCot Secret Tip #1: If you find the ultimate white shirt, buy two. That way, if you find a stain on one, which usually happens when you are in a hurry for an important date or meeting, you can treat it with bleach, and you have a backup! Labels: randoms
