Showers are great – when you’re pressed for time. They’re utilitarian though, just getting the job done, and they lack the all out girlie luxury possible with a leisurely soak in the tub. I’ve spent years perfecting the art of the bath, and for me, my recipe is simple, steamy, hot water, silence (music could work, but I like the nothingness!), soft lighting from candles, bubbles, a good book and a glass of wine.
What I’ve also discovered though is that there are lots of things you have in your kitchen that can do double duty in your bath, adding to the pampering, and at the same time, working out life’s little kinks. Epsom salts are a great muscle relaxant, while sea salt cleanses.
Powdered skimmed milk added to your bath water will act as a moisturizer, and cider vinegar soothes dry skin.
